2012 SEASON (Junior) - Second-Team All-American / All-Pac-12 & All-Region First Team.
Thanks to her second-half offensive surge against many of the nation's top teams, she ended the year ranked top 100 nationally in four categories (doubles, 56th, 0.27 p/g), slugging (61st, .697), batting (63rd, .393) and stolen bases (81st, 0.35 p/g), and also top 200 in RBI (172nd, 0.66 p/g) and homers (195th, 0.18 p/g). Pac-12-wise, she tied for the league lead in doubles (17), and also stood second in stolen bases (22-tied), fourth in total bases (124-tied), fifth in batting (.393), sixth in hits (70) and seventh in slugging (.697). Team-wise, she paced the squad in batting, slugging, doubles, total bases, hits, triples and stolen bases; and stood second in sacrifice flies and on-base percentage; third in walks and homers; fourth in runs and RBI; and sixth in game-winning RBI (4). Was one of two Ducks tabbed to the WCWS All-Tournament Team after she led the tourney field in slugging (1.111), stood second in homers (2-tied) and 11th in batting (.333-tied), and also sported an impressive .400 on-base percentage. In April, she picked up the second Pac-12 Player of the Week honor of her career after she helped the team take the season series vs. then-No. 14 Stanford. In the three-game set, she paced the squad in hitting (.556, 5-for-9), slugging (1.444), on-base percentage (.636), homers (2-tied), triples (1) and walks (2), and stood second in hits (5). She was one of four Ducks that hit safely in all three contests in Palo Alto, had a pair of two-hit efforts in the last two tilts, and reached base in all four at-bats in the finale (2-for-2, HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB). In May's final regular season series, she swiped a team-season high three bases and scored deciding run on steal of third base (then advanced home) on wild throw by catcher in 3-2 win vs. No. 14 UCLA. She knocked in four game-winning RBI during slate in key wins over No. 21 Oklahoma State (second-inning double), vs. No. 9 Missouri (third-inning, three-run homer to left field), in the NCAA regional finale vs. BYU (fifth-inning, two-out double to right center field), and in the World Series vs. No. 5 Tennessee (first-inning, no-out solo homer to center field). After hitting .333 the first two weeks of the season, hiked season average above .400 two weeks later, and never dipped below .370 the rest of the campaign. With an injury to senior right-handed pitcher Samantha Skillingstad, she made two appearances for Ducks in the circle. In her three innings, she struck out four, and allowed four hits. Defensively, racked up a career-high 13 assists – more than twice the rest of the Duck outfielders combined (6) – and owned a .942 fielding mark with 52 putouts and four errors.

Started 52 of the 54 games she played, splitting her time between center field (31 starts) and right field (21 starts). After her breakout frosh season, opposing teams pitched to her selectively, yet she still ranked among team’s leaders in various categories. At seasons' end, ranked second among Duck outfielders in batting (.286), homers (8), slugging (.370) and on-base percentage (.369). Swiped a team-high 16 bags in 18 attempts, and her 31 RBI stood second-best for the Ducks. Recorded a team-best 12-game hitting streak from April 15 to May 8. Recorded 10 multi-hit games, all two-hit efforts, and three of which came in a six-game stretch vs. Oregon State and at No. 9 Arizona. Hit .305 during Pac-12 play, and her first homer in league play was a three-run shot in the regular season finale win against No. 12 UCLA (5/14). In first week of season, homered, stole a career-high three bases, drove in three runs and scored three more in a win over North Texas (2/12). Later that day, followed that up with a three-RBI effort against Nevada (2/12). Homered and drove in four runs in a victory over UNLV (3/25). Defensively, owned a .976 fielding mark (41 putouts, 6 assists, 5 errors).

One of the West Coast’s most dangerous hitters, she led the team in hits (64), homers (11), RBI (48), slugging (.641), walks (27), stolen bases (11) and longest hitting streak (15 games), and stood second in batting (.383), on-base percentage (.472) and doubles (10). On the Pac-12 charts, ranked top 10 in on-base percentage (ninth, .472) and batting (10th, .383), and also ranked top 10 at end of the regular season in the league in hits and RBI. In year-end NCAA national rankings, was sighted in categories for batting (82nd, .383), RBI (88th, 0.84 per game), on-base percentage (90th, .472), slugging (123rd, .641) and home runs (131st, 11). One of two Ducks with Kelsey Chambers to start all 57 games in ‘10, with 55 starts in right field and another two at designated player. Was one of four Ducks to receive Pac-12 Player/Pitcher of the Week honors in ‘10, thanks to her spring break efforts in six games against Idaho State, Portland State and Seattle in which she led the team in batting (.615), slugging (1.077), on-base percentage (.684), hits (8), RBI (10), home runs (2), walks (5), total bases (14) and stolen bases (3-for-3). That week, she also hit her first career grand slam and had a team-game season high 5 RBI (and the ninth-best total in school history) in the 19-0 win over Idaho State. Clubbed six homers the opening two weekends of her collegiate career after she paced the team in hitting in the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe (7-for-18, 3 home runs, 4 RBI, 2 walks, .889 slugging) and Louisville Slugger Classic in Las Vegas (.619, 13-for-21, 3 doubles, 3 home runs, 11 RBI, 4 walks, 1.190 slugging). In her third tourney, batted .429 (6-for-14, 3 doubles, 3 RBI) in the Cathedral City Classic near Palm Springs. In early March in San Diego tournament, topped .300 for the fourth straight weekend (.333, 3-for-9, 1 RBI). In the Pac-12 opening Oregon State series, led team in hitting (.583, 7-for-12, double, 4 RBI, walk) to help UO win the series for the first time in three years. Has three game-winning RBI on season vs. Western Michigan (lead-off homer in first inning in 4-0 win), Seattle (first-inning sacrifice fly in 4-0 win) and Idaho State (first-inning infield ground-out in 19-0 win). Defensively, logged a .945 fielding mark with 42 putouts. Among her team-high 10 assists, five came to first base in wins against No. 19 Texas A&M, Boise State, and No. 14 California - the last being a game-ender in a 1-0 win with the tying run rounding third base - and also in separate games at No. 5 UCLA (2). Also gunned out the go-ahead runs at third base in the sixth inning in 1-0 NCAA opener win over Auburn and against No. 8 Missouri in eventual 1-0 Super Regional loss, and another at second base in the sixth inning in the 6-5 Oregon State series finale.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prep All-American
As a senior, was a First-Team All-State, All-County and All-League recipient, and led Tesoro High School to the CIFSS Division III championship. At the plate, the Southern Section Division III Player of the Year paced her team in hitting (.438), and had 22 runs batted in with five homers. She also pitched 198 1/3 innings, struck out 230 hitters and held opposing batters to a .156 average. On the year, she recorded all of her team’s decisions (26-4) and posted a 0.92 ERA. She capped the year with a eight-strikeout,four-hit complete game to lead team to 4-0 win in Southern Section title tilt vs. Glendora - her sixth shutout of the section playoffs. As a junior was an All-CIF and All-South Coast League pick and team captain for her CIF champion team, and was also tabbed the Tesoro High School Female Athlete of the Year. As a sophom*ore in 2007, hit .462, had 12 RBI, two home runs and ranked top-five in each category in the South Coast League. The four-year letterwinner also led the Tesoros’ division in homers her freshman season. As a junior in club action in 2008, she owned a .435 average heading into national tournament play.

PAPPAS Q&A: THE OREGON DIFFERENCE
Q: How long have you been a Duck fan or wanted to come to Oregon?
SP: "Ever since freshman year of high school."
Q: When you talk to others about how you love being a Duck, what are the first things you mention?
SP: "I talk about how awesome our coaches and athletic facilities are, and the amazing school spirit all over town."
Q: Besides athletics, what things initially attracted you academically to the University?
SP: "Besides athletics, the things that initially attracted me to the University part of U of O was the beautiful, green campus, and I wanted to be somewhere that had all four seasons."
Q: What things do you remember from your Oregon recruiting trip?
SP: "I stayed in Sam Skillingstad's dorm room, and I remember that all of the girls on the team were really fun and nice, and I wanted to be a part of a team with that atmosphere."
Q: In what ways does playing in the Pac-12 Conference prepare you to be your best?
SP: "Playing against the nation's best teams prepares us to be our best because each and every opposing player is extremely talented, and only the strong (mentally and physically), make it on the field."
Q: What are the special parts about playing in a college town like Eugene?
SP: "Everywhere you turn, either on campus or just around town, you see people in Oregon gear, and Oregon stickers on cars, which is an awesome environment to play in. You know that you will always have fans in the stands cheering you on."
Q: Talk about the team’s chemistry, and what sets it apart from other programs?
SP: "Everyone gets along very well. I loved the team right away because freshmen weren't treated like freshmen, but like everyone else. It was just nice to feel like you are a part of the team right from the very beginning."
Q: Describe Coach White’s mission statement or general philosophy to being successful, both as a team and as an individual.
SP: "Coach wants us to work as hard as we can and stay mentally strong. If we do that, we will get to where we want to be."
Q: When you work with him, what elements of his coaching style do you appreciate the most?
SP: "I love that Coach White pitches to us in practice. He can throw us some of the craziest pitches that I have ever seen, and it helps me read the spin on the ball and detect which pitch is coming. I also love that he helps us with the mental part of the game, and keeps us mentally strong."
Q: Oregon’s state-of-the art facilities are a big thing in the recruiting process – what were your impressions of various ones?
SP: "When we toured the treatment center on my recruiting trip I was in awe. Everything was amazing and I didn't want to leave, and now I am in there every single day. On my trip, I thought the coolest thing that I saw was the underwater treadmills, and I also love the cold and hot tubs to relax in after practice."
Q: Are there other unique elements in the University of Oregon athletic department that you didn’t find anywhere else?
SP: "I love that we have a very knowledgeable nutrition staff that helps each and every one of us out with keeping our bodies healthy and in the best shape that we can be to compete at the highest level."
Q: What’s your major, and what led you to pick it?
SP: "I am a Human Physiology major because I want to be a nurse."
Q: Do you have a special pride to wearing the ‘O’, and why?
SP: "Definitely, because the University of Oregon is the best school in the country! Even when I come home to Southern California and wear my Oregon gear, people are always saying, "GO DUCKS!" I also always see random people around my hometown walking around in Oregon sweatshirts, and it's awesome to see that the school spirit, even in other states."
