BREAKING NEWS: 4Kids to dub Sonic games!!! (2024)

I don't know about you guys but the voice-acting in Sonic games lately has been some of the most grating voice-acting I'm ever heard in a videogame. I seriously doubt having 4Kids provide the voice actors would really make it much worse.

I play Sonic for the gameplay, I usually skip the "cinematic" sequences.

*spits drinks out in disgust for 6 minutes*

I have brought Sonic Heroes today and that has pretty odd voice casting but I don't think this is going to go well at all!

Wait wait wait... 4Kids isn't going to edit levels out or anything. All they're doing is providing voices which, knowing many of my friends, would automatically be switched the the Japanese voices anyway by players.

I should of guessed you where up to someting when you chnaged the voice cast in Sonic heroes...

I've just seen the trailer for Shadow the hegdehog(Spelling) And I heard Mike pollock's Voice voicing eggman/also the voice of egg man in Sonic X series and I also heard Dairison The voice of Zolo in One Piece voicing Shadow. To tell you the truth the game looks good and sounds good, Also...

One is Shooting and one is for Fun.

Okay, here is my preference of the Sonic characters through the game VAs and TV VAs.

Sonic: Game>TV - The TV VA sounds pretty much the same, but he sounds a little too mellow at times.
Tails: Game>TV - His voices have never been good anyway, but the I don't like the raspy voice the TV VA has.
Knuckles: Game>TV - I think the TV VA (Yugi) sounds a little too gruff for Knuckles.
Eggman: Equal - I think both actors do a good job as Eggman, so I'll live with the TV VA. I think the game VA died anyway.
Rouge: Game>TV - I personally don't like either of their voices, as they sound too old for Rouge. But I think TV VA sounds especially too old for her.
Shadow: Unknown - I can't remember what the TV VA sounded like, so I shouldn't vote. It looks like people generally like the game voice better though.
Big: Equal - I don't like this character or his voice either way, so...eh.
Cream: Equal - I personally can't stand this character or the voice either way.
Gamma/Omega: Game>TV - While the TV VA sounded more like a robot, I prefered the Gamma/Omega game voice.

Exactly. This means 4Kids will have their name on the box. So 4Kids will get a cut of any copy sold. Thus 4Kids will get a ton of money because Sonic games sell and I sure as Hell don't want to fund them anymore.

It was bad enough when they got money for the merchandise, but please stay the frig away from the games.

You'd figure if SEGA suddenly cared about continuity, they'd force 4Kids to use the game voices instead.

Poor Ryan has received over 1500 emails on the subject. Even if SEGA backstabbed him, I think he'd be happy to know how many supporters he has.

So I'm not really seeing a difference here. Personally, I think Sega doesn't put enough effort into its 3D Sonic games. They're always kind of sloppy...

That's 4Kids's damn problem, not Sega's. They were the ones who didn't want to use the SA2 cast in the first place.

When casting for Sonic X, Ryan Drummond approached 4Kids about voicing Sonic in the dub, they said no, the bastards. I don't see why they should get the say in this.

BTW, this applies for Shadow AND Riders, and probably the new Sonic game for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Believe me, it would. Unless you can actually tolerate Dan Green's Knuckles, well...

4kids is the one who screwed up the voice continuity in the first place. Also, Sega needs to realize that not everyone who plays the games watches the anime, and perhaps vica versa. What that means is, it would be better to keep voice continuity within the GAMES. So, their logic is pretty flawed.

But alas, logic is defied and Kahn gets us again. *sigh* This is getting old.

It doesn't matter who does the voices, but where the money flows too. Boycotting future releases with 4Kids name on it has nothing to do with the VA's tallent. Yes most of the VA's in recent Sonic games suck hard, but that isn't the issue here. It's the fact that now Sonic games will fund poorly translated anime and destroy more popular properties.

As of now we would be cutting out the funding that went to Sega of America to hire those VA's and give it to 4Kids. In fact knowing 4Kids they will demand a bigger cut of the game's profit because they know Sonic games sell and will make Sega of America believe they're more important tham Sonic Team themselves. Meaning their lable will be on the box, on the opening and closing credits, and even more money in their pocket.

Sorry to sidetrack here, but Capcom, Namco, Konami, and Sega have some of the dumbest people running their US divisions. Sega was even founded by a man from the US and we're still getting screwed on many levels here. The things we've ok'ed here the past 10 maybe 12 years in the industry have been stupid and foolish. Most likely longer because the US divisions always hid themselves in the dark with certain aspects of games and never knew the entire story until magazines or the internet came about. There have been many mistake done in advertizements and adatapations of games over the years that really make us look stupid in the eyes of Euopeans and Japanses. One example is Capcom US putting all of that money and energy behind the SF movie, but not letting [size=-1]Yoshiki Okamoto or anyone else related work with Hollywood. All they did was work on the crappy video game surrounding it.

No, 4Kids will not have it's name on the box, and it will not receive a cut of the game's profits. To quote a member of the SSMB:

4Kids name won't be on any of the products simply because they lent a voice actor.

How many times must we say that until it sinks in? Jason has worked at 4Kids, but that does not make a difference in the matter. His transfer to work at SEGA does not mean 4Kids has "invaded SEGA" as you keep claiming. It simply means he's worked with 4Kids before and that he'll simply be lending a voice. Sonic is SEGA's property, not 4Kids. The games will continue to remain the same and 4Kids' name will not be on it.
