Florida State beach volleyball rising senior Audrey Koenig and rising junior Alexis Durish, as well as alum Maddie Anderson and assistant coach Nick Lucena has also been selected, have been selected for the 2024 Beach Collegiate National Team:
The four Seminoles will train with the Collegiate National Team from June 11-19 in Hermosa Beach, California.
Anderson wrapped up her decorated career for the Seminoles in 2024 with a 23-8 record on courts one and two in her final season. This elevated her career record to 123-39, placing her second all-time in wins at FSU. She is a two-time AVCA First-Team All-American (2022, 2023) and two-time Second-Team All-American (2021, 2024). Anderson was named to the CCSA All-Freshman Team in 2021, to the CCSA All-Conference honors in 2022, the CCSA All-Tournament in 2021, 2022, and 2024, and the CCSA All-Academic team in 2022, 2024. She and Durish were the CCSA Pair of the Tournament in 2024 after finishing the tournament 2-0 on court one and earning the championship-winning point.
Koenig completed her junior year with a 30-8 record across four courts, bringing her career record to 39-15. She was a consistent staple in the Seminoles’ lineup that led to one CCSA Pair of the Week selection with Raelyn White (April 17, 2024), CCSA All-Conference honors, CCSA All-Academic honors, and CCSA All-Tournament honors. Also a stellar indoor volleyball, Koenig was the 2023 ACC Co-Player of the Year and helped lead Florida State to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Durish ended her sophom*ore season with a 29-7 record, bringing her to 60-11 in her career. She dominated the lower courts before moving up to courts one and two, where she would stay after proving to be a worthy number one-option for FSU. She was named to the CCSA All-Conference team and CCSA All-Academic team in 2024, as well as being named CCSA Pair of the Tournament with Maddie Anderson.
Lucena wrapped up his third year as an assistant coach for Florida State in 2024. He competed in the Olympic Games in 2016 and 2020. Lucena has earned 16 AVP Tournament wins and nine FIVB Tournament victories. He was named the Top Defensive Player by volleyballmag.com and as the Team of the Year (with Phil Dalhausser) in the AVP in 2017. He was named the USAV Beach Team of the Year (also with Dalhausser) in 2015. Lucena is a two-time AVP Defensive Player of the Year (in 2008 and 2014) and was named the Most Improved Player on the AVP Tour in 2008. Since he joined the coaching staff in 2022, the Seminoles have garnered a 96-28 record, made three NCAA Tournament appearances, and advanced to the NCAA Championship Match in 2022.
Florida State men’s and women’s outdoor track and field wrapped up competition at the NCAA Outdoor Championships:
Jeremiah Davis added his second first-team All-America honor of the meet by placing fourth in the men’s triple jump with a measurement of 16.62m (54-6½). It was his third All-American finish in the event in his career.
Kyvon Tatham finished seventh with a lifetime best, tying the eighth-farthest jump in school history at 16.30m (53-5¾), securing first-team All-American for the first time in his career. David Mullarkey concluded his season in the 5,000-meters, placing 18th with a time of 14:05.77.
Dajaz DeFrand placed seventh in the finals of the 200-meter with a time of 22.72, securing the second first-team All-American honors of her career. DeFrand also captured first-team accolades in the 100 in 2023.
The women’s team finished 54th with two points, while the men’s team finished 19th with 15 points.
