5 View commentsSergio Ramos has penned an emotional messgae to Sevilla fans after quitting his boyhood club.
Ramos first joined Sevilla as a child in 1996, leaving to sign for Real Madrid in 2005, where he would go on to become a club legend after spending 16 seasons in the Spanish capital.
He then had a two-year stint at Paris Saint-Germain before going back to Sevilla last September making 87 first-team appearances for the club in total.
They waved goodbye to the 38-year-old in a short statement on Monday, which thanked the Spaniard for his 'commitment, leadership and dedication' in his year back with the club.
On Tuesday, meanwhile, he took to social media himself to wave goodbye and once again explained his love for the club.

'Nine months after putting on the @sevillafc shirt again with tears of emotion in my eyes, I say goodbye to Sevilla with tears of gratitude,' he posted. 'Thanks to the club, team-mates, technicians and employees for this season. Thanks to my family, my eternal support, and thanks, especially, to the fans of Sevilla FC, who knew how to excuse my mistakes and who have given me all that love that cannot be described in words.
'I signed with Sevilla, motivated by two dreams: to pay tribute to Antonio Puerta, to Jose Antonio Reyes, to my grandparents, may they rest in peace, and to my father; and to demonstrate my Sevillismo in the best way I know how, leaving my life on the field to help the team in a delicate situation. With pride and emotion I can say that both have been accomplished.
'A stage concludes, the season ends and a new one has to begin, of which I will not be a part. I had the dream of saying goodbye to Sevilla at the Ramon Sánchez-Pizjuan and my dream has come true.
'It has been a very hard season emotionally, very demanding, but I have always tried to give the best example, the best version. I have not yet decided where I am going to play next season, but wherever I am, Sevilla FC will have the staunch support of a Sevillista of birth and heart. Thank you very much to all.'

It is yet to be confirmed where Ramos will end up next, but it is widely speculated that he will move to the United States to see out his career.
According to ESPN, the former World Cup winner is expected to pen a deal with a side that does not yet exist.
San Diego FC have never played a game, but are, as a franchise, expected to join Major League Soccer early next year.
The club, whose ownership group includesBritish-Egyptian businessman Mohamed Mansour, will play at the 35,000-capacity Snapdragon Stadium.
